LET’S HOME OUR STREETIES
Desi, indie, streetie or whatever you may call it is the smartest, hardiest and the least maintenance pet you can ever get.
The “adopt don’t shop” is the new cool mentality that has now set foot in India.
When you adopt, you are saving it from suffering and death. You will be changing its world and there’s no better feeling than that. We know names of dog breeds from all around the world but do we know what our Indian native dog is called? It’s called the Indian Pariah dog. This breed is known to be easily trainable and highly intelligent. And what do we go with these poor creatures? They are left on the streets to be abused and neglected. Witnessing the suffering of street dogs is a daily occurrence because sadly, there isn’t much help out there for all of them.
Let’s go little deeper into why our street dogs are subjected to inhuman and horrific crimes every day. There are a section of people in the society who aren’t fond of animals, which is understandable if they just ignore and not harm them. Some people might have fears, stereotypes or certain superstitions about having animals around them, especially street animals.
The third and the worst type of people are the ones who show their hatred through their actions. We have all heard several stories of dogs getting beaten up for fun, poisoned, ran over by vehicles, or even acid attacks! Why do humans feel that they are superior to animals? This is something which we would never understand.
For others, dogs are the greatest companions to humans and are intelligent beings that can be trained to be detectives, safeguards and our personal favourite- guide dogs! We hear every day to never discriminate among people, then why do we discriminate dogs on basis of what breed they are?
Considering the amount of street dogs we have, it may not surprise you if you find them lying on your door mat, under the car, near construction sites, on your scooter or any nook and corner in your locality. These places are not only unsafe but may also be unhygienic which may endanger their lives. However, just like our pets, these dogs are also looking for a place to rest after a long day of looking for food and protecting their territories.
If you are planning to keep a dog, we would suggest you to adopt one from the millions of street dogs who would be extremely grateful and happy to have a home and a person whom they can snuggle, sleep and play with! And guess what? It is free! Plus, there is special bond that springs when you save an animal’s life.
But if you wish to protect these dogs without adopting them, we could help! We at Woof Roof have a mission to provide a home to our streeties who are equally deserving of affection and care just like the ones at home! Under our rescue segment, we provide dog homes for our street dogs at non-profitable rates. They are made out of impeccable quality of materials that ensure that these dogs are comfortable through the year in all reasons. They are heavy and sturdy, reducing the changes of theft. Providing a home to these dogs would not only lower the crimes against them but would also save them from life-threatening diseases and help in reducing medical bills by 50%!
