Once upon a time- Story time!

Hey visitors! Welcome to our website and our blog.

We are going to tell you a story, a story of how and when Woof Roof was formed.

Begum & Sahiba

Let’s rewind the last one and a half year and tell you how it started for us. Our products started as a need for two little puppies- Begum & Sahiba. Our founder, Jai Mittal had adopted these beautiful souls from the street. Living in a rainy town like Dehradun, he looked for houses, kennels, etc. to keep them safe from all kinds of weathers. Jai being a hotelier and a protector of a huge forest in the Himalayas constructed luxury tent houses for his resort in Mussoorie. Since he could not find anything suitable for the needs of his mischievous puppies that tore all the furniture in the house, he decided to scale down his 600 sq ft tent to a small 2 sq ft dog house. Imagine the material being used to make a hotel used to make a dog tent! The breathable canvas material with a layer of PVC made it suitable for all weathers. It was a big relief for Jai to see that his puppies finally got something comfortable and relaxing to live inside.

In no time, friends and family started demanding for the same kind of tent for their pets but being swamped with work and responsibilities, this project couldn’t come alive.

And then as Covid-19 hit and lock down started, it was a difficult time for the under privileged. The team for the hotel had no work or money to feed themselves and their families. This is the time Woof Roof was built. It was built to provide for the labor and requests of friends and family.

With the increasing demand, a shop was built  on Instagram introducing two ranges of outdoor tent-Rescue and Glamper. Since Begum & Sahiba were rescues, we couldn’t leave out dogs on the street. A non-profit range was made with the motive to house 50 streeties a month. We were determined to reach people all over India and guess what? We did. We received orders from Delhi, Bombay, Pune, Mysore, Bangalore and many other cities. It was overwhelming for us to see such kind hearten souls who not only fed these streeties but also cared for their safety. Several NGOs contacted us ordered in bulk for their shelters or to house dogs around their city. We even received a few generous donations!

The Glamper on the other hand, is a luxury segment for dogs living inside safe houses but still need a separate personal space just like Begum & Sahiba. These tents are sturdy from within but also look insanely cute!

In no time, the tents got viral and there were nonstop orders. And as every business expands, we expanded and created a new range of indoor tepee shaped tents, not only for dogs but also for cats! These tents are appealing to the eyes and one can choose from the 5 colors available to match the color scheme of their houses!

Woof Roof got a boost when the famous Indian film producer, Rhea Kapoor recognized us as a potential brand and asked for a custom made white colored indoor tent to match with the aesthetics of her room.
